GAELIC closure
Unfortunately this blog is now only an archive of what was once a very vibrant and active academic library consortium that was run by FOTIM. It contains much about the member community and its good work as well as items that reflect the every changing nature of the academic library world.
During 2011 it was decided by the FOTIM Board that the service provided by FOTIM could no longer be regarded as economically justifiable and so the organisation was closed. Although GAELIC was a very necessary and successful project, it too had to close and its final contribution to the member community was to compile a list of best practice guidelines for the provision of service to users with disabilities.
The final report of this project was sent to the members and as part of the grant agreement for the project, an article was submitted to the South African library journal for publication. We are currently waiting for peer comment and publication. Notice of this will be posted in due course.
